Many countries require vaccinations and immunizations prior to entering the country you are planning to visit. We provide education and resources for international travel in order to reduce the risk of contracting an illness while away from home. As a traveler one can encounter diseases especially from drinking water, insect bites, viruses, parasites, and organisms not common in the United States. Education and prevention are the most important tools in the fight against these serious and potentially life threatening diseases. We can also provide advice on treating acute illnesses like traveler’s diarrhea as well as chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes while you are abroad.
Vaccines for Travel and Health
Ideally you should set up an appointment about 4 weeks prior to your trip so that your vaccines/medications are effective when you get there. Some vaccinations are given in a 2–3 shot series over a period of time. It takes 2-4 weeks from the time of the immunization for significant antibody production to occur. Some vaccines need be administered 4 weeks apart, so it is important for you to contact us early in your trip-planning process. For example, Hepatitis B vaccine is give in three doses over six months while Yellow Fever vaccine must be administered 10–12 days prior to your trip. Evaluation, vaccinations, and any necessary prescriptions are available at any of our clinics. You may call at any time to schedule an appointment.
